R2:- 1 Corinthians 15:20-27
R:- Mary has been taken upinto heaven; the host of angels rejoices
Gosp:- Luke 1:39-56

The Solemnity of the Assumption is centred on the belief that after her death, the Blessed Virgin Mary was taken to heaven body and soul.

“When Christ ascended into heaven, he prepared there an immortal place for his most chaste Mother.” (Ant.1 evening prayer of Assumption)

According to Saint John Damascene, ” it was fitting that she who in giving birth had preserved her virginity unspotted should keep her body incorrupt even after death. It was fitting that she who had borne the creator as a child in her bosom should have a dwelling-place with God.”

Privilege of place is the product of values which we exhibit. When we make ourselves worthy of God’s call, He treats us with special dignity. He will never allow his beloved to know decay.

Mary was highly favoured, that her body was held sacred even after her death.

Let us know the kind of value we place on ourselves. According to I. G. Ashima, “no one can add to the value we place on ourselves.” Most importantly, the value which God places on us cannot be underestimated. Just the way he singled out Mary for this special honour, let us lead lives worthy of the life of heaven. Let us submit ourselves to him as channels of his grace. He will surely use us for his greater glory.

*PRAYER*
O Blessed Mother, pray for us that we may be worthy of the promises of Christ.
