HOMILY, TUESDAY OF THE 28TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR A

Gal. 5:1-6, Luke 11:37-41

True freedom is from a clear conscience. There is no point setting up rules or codes of conduct while our hearts are full of evil. Oftentimes, the strong use laws to oppress the weak. They are strong, not by the works of their hands but because of the positions they hold.

However, it is interesting to note that before God, we are all equal and by faith in Christ we share in the freedom of the children of God.

The Lord said in today’s gospel,

“Now you Pharisees cleanse the outside of the cup and of the dish, but inside you are full of extortion and wickedness.”

Freedom is to follow the ways of the Lord. Let us look into ourselves and see where we are not meeting up to expectation.

May we ever enjoy true freedom that comes from clean conscience in Jesus name.
