The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus – Solemnity

Deuteronomy 7:6-11, 1 John 4:7-16, Matthew 11:25-30

THHEME: THE HUMBLE HEART

A burden is what we make it to be. If we adjust our lens appropriately, we will see clearly. What we often magnify are not the way we see them. Our mindset plays a major role in processing our daily experiences. People with simple hearts have ways of easing the tensions that surround what we see as difficulties.

Today, we celebrate the Soleminity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, who tells us in the gospel, “Come to me, all you who labour and are overburdened, and I will give you rest. Shoulder my yoke and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Yes, my yoke is easy and my burden light.”

We need a gentle attitude towards life’s situations. We need humility to simplify the issues we see as too disturbing.

The Sacred Heart of Jesus is the heart of love, gentility and humility. It is a heart that loves despite people’s attitudes towards it. It is a heart that does not count faults, but always aims at doing good. The heart of Jesus expresses the heart of the Father, who loves us despite our sinfulness.

We are called to emulate the divine Saviour. We are invited to take after him.

May our hearts always speak love that we reflect the perfect image of Christ Jesus, our Lord. Amen.
