Is it I Lord? The Question of Judas

Homily of Wednesday in the Holy Week.
Ref: Isa 50:4-9, Matt 26:14-25

Dear friends,
As we approach the Triduum, we’re grateful for this moment of reflection. A popular Catholic song, “I, the Lord of Sea and Sky,” resonates with today’s theme: “Is it I, Lord?” In the song, this question reflects a genuine desire to serve. However, in today’s Gospel, we see Judas asking the same question, but with a different heart. Despite knowing his betrayal plans, Judas feigns innocence.

As we journey through the Triduum, let’s reflect on our own authenticity. Do we wear masks to hide our true intentions? Do we pretend to be someone we’re not, even among loved ones? Judas’s story serves as a cautionary tale about the dangers of deception.

May this Triduum be an opportunity for us to reflect on our lives and strive for truthfulness. Let’s walk with God in sincerity, embracing a life devoid of pretenses. May God guide us towards authenticity and peace.
