A Light To Our Path

HOMILY FOR THURSDAY OF THE THIRD WEEK IN THE ORDINARY TIME YEAR C
BY REV FR EKESHIRI JUDE EMEKA CSSP.
Hebrews 10:19-25, Psalm 23:1-6, Mark 4:21-25

In one word, what is the theme of this post: Light is one of the most important thing God created in our world, because it illuminate the whole universe and gives a clear vision to those who intend to see. Most often people choose darkness as against light because the light reveals that which is not visible.

In the gospel Jesus spoke about the impact of light to our lives. Jesus said to His disciples, ‘Would you bring in a lamp to put it under a tub or under the bed? Surely you will put it on the lamp-stand? For there is nothing hidden but it must be disclosed, nothing kept secret except to be brought to light. If anyone has ears to hear, let him listen to this (Mark 4:21-25).

Most of our evil deeds are done in secret because they are not worth done in the light. Thus, if these things that we do are not worth to be exposed, why do we engage in them? Jesus wants to teach us the truth about righteous deeds so that we become exposed to the truth which is light to our souls.

As Christians, we are called to be LIGHT in the world, illuminating the path for others to follow Christ. Just as LIGHT is meant to SHINE, our LIVES are meant to RADIATE the LOVE and PRESENCE of God. We cannot Stop a Light from Shining, and similarly, we cannot hide the LIGHT of Christ within us.

Nonetheless, we must persevere in Christ; it would be unwise to look for other means of getting solutions when He is the supreme power. If you persevere in Him, He will reward you with abundance. Sometimes it would seem that you have come to a dead end. Yet continue to thrive through faith in divine providence. Trust God today and carry on; He will never abandon us. Peace be with you.
