HOMILY OF THE FIFTH SUNDAY OF LENT
Jer 31:31-34, Heb 5:7, John 12:20-33
THEME: HOW MEASURE LOVE
Man’s maturity is measured by how much he loves. The depth of his love can be determined by how much he can sacrifice for others. When we do things based on how it suites us alone, we have lost the sense of our being. God made us for himself and for the fulfillment of his purpose. Whatever may be our plans must be subjected to his divine plan and it must fit in into the economy of human salvation.
In our today’s first reading, God through Jeremiah promised his people that he would make a new covenant with them. He promised to write his laws in their heart.
In Jesus, this promise was fulfilled. The Lord Jesus fulfilled this promised by the shedding of his blood on the cross. He said, “Unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but when if it dies, it bears much fruits. He who loves his life loses it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life” John 12:24-25
Every feat in our life has its own price.
May we experience the glory of God in all the sacrifice we make for the good of others? Amen.
