There is no point manifestation an outward sign without a corresponding inner grace. Christianity is not all about ceremony. It is about a person, the person of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Observing religious observances without observing the normal human ethics is worse than useless.

In our today’s gospel the Lord rebuked the pharisees for taking only to tithing but neglecting the weightier matters of the law which are justice and mercy and faith.

*God is not our business colleague. Even if he is, we cannot bribe him with our offerings. We must give him our life.*

May the grace of God work in us to be cleansed both inside and outside in Jesus name. Amen.
