Dear friends in Christ, our reflection this day will be from the first reading taking from the book of Exodus 3:1-6, 9-12. The theme for today says, “When the unusual happens!”

There is a stage in our lives as Christians who keep growing spiritually when some unusual things happen to us. Sometimes, we pay attention to those unusual happenings and sometimes we push them aside. This morning Moses noticed something unusual about the burning bush and he said: “I will turn aside to see this great sight, why the bush is not burned.” Do not forget that Moses was tending the flock of his Father-in-law when he noticed the unusual. He left what he was preoccupied with to attend the unusual. Most often, we let our daily activities overshadow the unusual experiences of our lives, such that we don’t pay attention to them. You could imagine what it would have cost Moses and the Israelites if he had not paid attention to the unusual experience.

Furthermore, there are those who pay attention to the unusual activities of their lives but do not follow up by listening to the voice of God in that unusual experience. In our unusual experiences, God speaks, He gives instructions on what He wants of us. When Moses gave his attention to the burning bush, God called him out of the bush. In his unusual experience, He heard the voice of God and listened to the instruction God gave him.

Friends, when the unusual happens in our lives, let us give great attention to it and take every instruction to heart. God continues to speak to us but the question is do we listen to him?

We pray for the grace of spiritual sensitivity. That we may be guided by the Holy spirit to pay attention to whichever way God comes to us and speaks to us. Amen.

Peace!
