HOMILY OF TUESDAY OF THE 7TH WEEK OF EASTER

Acts 20:17-27, John 17:1-11

THEME: WEATHERING THE STORM OF OUR LIFE’S CALL

Life is both gain and pain. Obedience to God’s will is the ultimate, irrespective of the hurdles life brings. There is no fulfilment in a carefree and pleasurable life that is not purposeful. God has purpose for all those who have accepted him, and he wants to walk with them come rain come sunshine.

In today’s first reading, Paul said,

I am on my way to Jerusalem but have no idea what will happen to me there, except that the Holy Spirit, in town after town, has made it clear enough that imprisonment and persecution await me. But life to me is not a thing to waste words on, provided that when I finish my race, I have carried out the mission the Lord Jesus gave me – and that was to bear witness to the Good News of God’s grace.”

In the Gospel, Jesus counted the cross as nothing. His full intent was to obey the Father’s will, no matter the nature of the path he was to take.

Beloved, in our moment of expectancy during the novena to the Holy Spirit, let us invite him to rouse his power in us, that we may be more focused on our hope in glory. May no cross or challenge stop us from fulfilling our spiritual destiny, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
