THE I AND WE

120

HOMILY OF TUESDAY OF THE 5TH WEEK OF EASTER.

Acts 14:19-28, John 14:27-31

THEME: THE I AND WE

Though maturity entails a modicum of independence, we need others to stand. Our uniqueness has something to copy from others or from the context where we find ourselves.

More so, in our spiritual sojourn, we need encouragement from those who share in the faith we profess. We must belong to a community of like mind in Christ to be sustained during our low moments. This is also a reminder of how significant our participation in the life of others can be. Our being there oftentimes amount to added blessings when we share the special grace of God that we carry with those in need.

In our first reading, we see how, “Some Jews arrived from Antioch and Iconium, and turned the people against the apostles. They stoned Paul and dragged him outside the town, thinking he was dead. The disciples came crowding round him but, as they did so, he stood up and went back to the town.”

Jesus’ address in the gospel, was directed to the community of his disciples. “Peace, I bequeath to you, my own peace I give you, a peace the world cannot give, this is my gift to you.”

May his promised peace fill our heart. And may we never be found wanting in the kingdom of his love. Amen.
