HOMILY OF THURSDAY OF THE THIRTY- FOURTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR (A)
R1:- Revelation 18:1-2.21-23;19:1-3.9a
PS:- 100:1-2.3.4.5(Revelation 19:9a)
Accl:- Luke 21:28
Gosp:- Luke 21:20-28
The end time will be time for both defeat and victory. The Godless and those who kill their Godly instinct will suffer the same fate. Though, those who know the true God may fall prey for lack of understanding, with the knowledge of God’s presence, the fire of tribulation will not be scorch them.
Moreover, there is an end to all oppression. Evil has no lasting existence. Only the good has eternal face. After all that will befall Jerusalem, the Lord assured his elects, ” _Now when theses things begin to take place, look up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near”_
More so, the first reading describes how Babylon will fall. The corruptive and evil kingdom of the earth will be brought low for the children of light to reign. Every system that do not serve the purpose of human redemption shall be brought low.
May we always feel the Lord’s presence in our daily sojourn. May we remain victorious despite all the odds around us. The Lord reigns.
