Dear friends, today’s readings confront us with life’s harsh realities. We’ve all seen parents sacrifice for their children, only to eventually pass on before enjoying the fruits of their labor. Moses’ story, seeing the promised land but not entering it, reminds us that no one is indispensable, yet everyone is important.

The Psalmist’s words echo this truth: “Teach us to know the shortness of our lives that we may gain wisdom of heart.” Life’s brevity should prompt us to prioritize healing broken relationships.

Jesus’ teachings emphasize forgiveness and reconciliation. Don’t give up on others; instead, seek resolution. Approach those with whom you have misunderstandings, involve elders and the community if needed, and strive for reconciliation.

Even when all else fails, Jesus’ instruction to treat others like tax collectors and Gentiles isn’t about abandonment but about patiently seeking love and restoration.

Let’s prioritize resolving conflicts now, while we can. May God grant us the grace to heal the broken and fight for resolution. Amen.

Peace!
