HOMILY OF WEDNESDAY OF THE FOURTH WEEK OF ADVENT YEAR (B)

R1:- Genesis 15:1-12.17-18
PS:- 105:1-2.3-4.6-7.8-9 (R. 8a)
Accl:- John 15:4a.5b
Gospel:- Matthew 7:15-20

Oftentimes, people are named based on the circumstances around their birth. John’s own name was chosen by God himself. The name simply means, “God is gracious” or ” the gift of God” .

Moreover, people with special mission on earth are people who carry special grace for some extra ordinary feats in life. These are people specially named for specific assignment. John was one of these. He was the messenger sent to prepare the way for the Lord. Mal 3:1-4.

Obviously, what is not possible is what God says the time has not come. The circumstances around the John’s birth and his naming kept the people in awe of what God was about to do in the midst of his people. His conception was a miracle.

Mire so, all who heard of or witnessed the birth of John the baptist, were saying, “What then will this child be? for the hand of the was with him” Luke 1:65-66. As God’s project’s, we are bundles of possibilities. And no one except God knows the unfolding of God’s plan in our lives.

Hence, in the midst of our delays and challenges, it is soothing to know that God is never silent. When we are patient, he will surely see us through, and definitely achieve his plans through us.The delay in child bearing in Zechariah’s family was not without God’s knowledge

May we fulfil God’s purpose in our lives. May no delay or unfavourable condition dim our visions of God’s plan in our lives, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
