Today’s readings challenge us to live out our faith through practical wisdom.
In the first reading, the writer of the book of Wisdom reminds us that true wisdom is a gift from God. It is inseparable from goodness, integrity, and righteousness. Wisdom does not dwell in hearts that resist it, but in those who embrace and live it out. In other words, wisdom is shown in action our ability to choose and act rightly.

God searches the depths of our hearts, and to those who are innocent and sincere, He grants wisdom. Our actions and thoughts are never hidden from Him. That is why the psalmist reminds us that nothing escapes the sight of God. Knowing this should not make us afraid, but rather inspire us to be wise, act wisely, and seek God’s wisdom, especially in difficult moments.

The Gospel brings this teaching to life. Jesus tells us that temptations and occasions of sin are inevitable, yet we are called to respond with wisdom. He urges us to forgive those who wrong us without counting cost and to have faith and trust in God no matter what. God only needs a little faith from us to do that which we desire, that is why he used the illustration of the mustard seed. It is not about the size of your faith but the sincerity and courage of believing.

In a world filled with moral and ethical challenges, we are being advised in the Gospel of today to lead those who are below us to God, especially the children. And for us to do this, we need wisdom too. Obstacles will come but alas the one who provides them. Is better he or she never existed than to lead these little ones astray. The future of the society, the Church, the community rests on these little ones. They are the price. So whoever wants to be a leader of them will be diligent and sincere in doing that and try to do it right.

The Saintly pope we celebrate today was a man of wisdom, which is why he is being addressed as “the great.” Pope leo de great led the Church during the times of many confrontations and reformations, but despite all challenges through his works, wisdom, and teachings, he kept the Church at flow for the glory of God. We ask God to continue to fill the Church leaders with the same grace, wisdom, and guidance he blessed Pope Leo with.

PEACE BE WITH YOU ALL
