It is very disrespectful to have a guest dishonoring an invitation for a feast. All efforts put in that event to make it look colourful would be counted as waste. It is heart-breaking for sure. This is our attitudes towards God who invites us constantly to share in His love. God’s invitation to us to participate in His heavenly feast is genuine and real. He constantly wants us to share in the great feast of His love and mercy.

In the gospel of today, we see this extension of God’s love to everyone, but we are too busy to accept this invitation. The Parable of the wedding feast reflects what happens in real life. It is true that, Friends could easily disappoint us while strangers may not openly accept our offers but strangers who are not fit to follow the rules of this invitation could be driven out of this great feast.

In the gospel, Jesus narrates the parable of a man who invited friends and well-wishers to the wedding feast of His son. Those He invited did not honour the invitation due to their individual reasons, so He opened His doors to strangers who were willing to join in the celebration. However, one of the strangers was not prepared to enjoy this feast as he did not wear an appropriate garment for this celebration.

Likewise, God invites us daily to feast with Him in the kingdom of righteousness, peace and joy, but we are too busy. We prefer to rub ourselves in the mud of sin than to feast in righteousness. However, God continues to invites us to feast on His word and on the Bread of life, but we seek satisfaction in things that do not last. If we respond to God’s invitation, we must do so wholeheartedly. Putting on the right garment means coming to Him with the right disposition and preparation to be just.

Let us today constantly prepare ourselves for the feast of God’s presence, because we could be called upon at any time without our knowledge. It is only right that, we make ourselves ready always, so that when we are invited, we would be found wearing the right garment for the feast. Peace be with you.
