THEME: RECOGNIZING THE GOOD

There is a distinction between performing good deeds and recognizing the inherent goodness within them. Sometimes, we wail because the good we do are not appreciated or people turn against us on account of them. That is a result of human perception. People often judge our actions by their individual expectations and or personal preference.

In our today’s Gospel passage, we read how the Lord rescued the demon-possessed individuals by commanding the demons to enter a herd of swine. Subsequently, the swine were silenced and perished as they plunged into the sea. This would have been a relief to the people who have been threatened overtime by the activities of these demoniacs, rather they rated their economic loss over the restoration of their fellow citizens. They simply implored Jesus to leave their territory. They gave him a “goodbye good man” handshake.

We should strive to judge our actions by God’s standard and forget how people view what we do. Those who see in God’s light will understand the good inherent in what we do.

May God tailor all our actions according to his perfect plan. Amen.
