HOMILY OF SATURDAY IN THE 19TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR A

Joshua 24:14-29, Matthew 19:13-15

THEME: OUR RESPONSES TO GOD’S WONDERS.

In the first reading, Joshua made the Israelites to choose who to serve, having declared his own family to the service of God. And the people in turn vowed to serve the Lord having heard and seen what the Lord has done in their lives.

Hence, every favour we receive from God is an invitation to dedicate our lives to him. The Lord has done so much for us. May we always be resolute in our choices for him. And we must not forget that whatever decisions we make today will surely have bearing in the lives of those around us and those who will come after us.

Jesus told the disciples the gospel not to despise the little children from coming to him. The best way to lead the children to God is to lead them by example.

May we remain grateful to God, and may our daily choices be signs of our closeness to him. Amen.
