HOMILY OF SUNDAY IN THE 14TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR A

Zechariah 9:9-10, Romans 8:9,11-13, Matthew 11:25-30

THEME: KNOWING THE WAY

Borrowing the thought of Thomas, if we do not know where we are going, we cannot know the way. Even if we are on the way to where we are going, we still need to recognize it as such. Regardless of our progress towards our destination, it is essential to acknowledge and recognize our journey for what it is. To know Jesus is to know his Father, the source of life.

The Lord said, “Everything has been entrusted to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, just as no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”

Paul said in the second reading, “In fact, unless you possessed the Spirit of Christ you would not belong to him, and if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, then he who raised Jesus from the dead will give life to your own mortal bodies through his Spirit living in you.”

Our success is life in dependent on having the right connection; knitting ourselves with the right people, who have answers to our puzzles and can proffer the right solution to our problems.

Jesus emphasized that by being with Him, we can readily adopt a positive mindset towards the challenges we encounter in life, making it easier to confront them without unnecessary stress or strain.

It simply means that life has its own huddles, but with the strength that comes from God, we can manage them because, he who made the world has answers to whatever life brings.

May we never swerve away from Christ, the path that leads to eternal peace. Amen.
