KNOWING THE SPIRIT OF THE ANTICHRIST

213

HOMILY OF FRIDAY OF THE 32ND WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR A

2John 4-9, Luke 17:26-37

Any doctrine that denies the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh is the doctrine of the antichrist.

However, whoever denies the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh will equally deny his suffering, death and resurrection. This is a complete rejection of salvation. It is an affirmation of the reign of Satan.

Moreover, the denial of the God among us may not be by words of mouth but by one’s ways of life.  Jesus came to lead us to the Father.  The only way of following him is to imitate his life, so that, where he is, we also may be. His life is the way.  He says, “Any one who goes ahead and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God; he who abides in the doctrine has both the Father and the Son.” 2 John 8-9.

More so, anything that makes us trivialize the presence of Christ may equally make us unaware of his second coming. His second coming is going to be a shock to those who do not consciously prepare. The Lord said in the gospel, “As it was in the days of Noah, so will it be in the days of the Son of man.” Luke 17:26.

May our daily activities, may all our actions be sown for an eternal harvest. Amen.
