Today we have a detailed account of the passion of Christ and we are called to reflect on his sufferings, how He was dragged on the streets of Jerusalem, how He was abused and humiliated like a criminal, the slap and the strokes of cane he received, the spittle on his face, and the crown of thorns which tored His flesh, and His death on the wood of the cross for our sake.
He endured all these for the greater purpose of fulfilling His salvific mission of humanity. To have our sins forgiven and live better lives free from the dominion of darkness.
His death makes salvation attainable, but we must, in obedience, submit ourselves to God in humility that He may cleanse us of our sins, for “…he learned obedience through what he suffered; and being made perfect he became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him.”(Hebrews 5:9)
Therefore, we must realise the importance of the death of Christ in our lives and so “…with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need….” (Hebrews 4:14-16,5:7-9)
Peace be with you 🙏🏾
