Jesus will turn our sorrow into joy

Acts 18:9-18, Psalm47:2-3.4-5.6-7, John 16:20-23a

Rev. Fr. Achilleus ile Adole CSSp.

Brethren, through the gospel of today, Jesus offers words of strength and hope to us in our challenges of life, and in all our moments of despair. He said, "Truly, truly, I say to you, you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; you will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn into joy...."

Our concentration should be on what to come and not on our present situation. The pain we bear now is but just a pathway to the beautiful things God has kept for us ahead. Like Jesus said in the gospel, "...When a woman is in labour, she has pain, because her hour has come; but when she is delivered of the child, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a child is born into the world. So you have sorrow now, but I will see you again and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you...."

Whatever we suffer now is only temporal, there are greater things to enjoy ahead of you. Keep faith and be hopeful in the plans of our father who knows how to give good gifts to his children.

May the words of Jesus console us in our difficulties, and may our future be better than the past, and all sorrows turned into joy, through Christ our Lord. Amen!

Peace be with you
