Remain In Jesus

Acts 15:1-6; John 15:1-8

Fr. Felix Olatunji Yayi, C.S.Sp.

Dear brothers and sisters, I welcome you to this Wednesday’s reflection with the Spiritans Sounds.

Before I begin, let me ask you a question: What happens to a branch that is cut off from its source? It withers, because it no longer receives the nutrients needed to keep it alive and fresh. And once it withers, it can no longer bear fruit, since it has lost its connection to the source that gives it strength.

In the same way, our source and origin are Christ. When we are cut off from Him, we lose the grace that refreshes and enables us to bear fruit. Just as Jesus admonished His disciples, I also admonish you, dear friends: remain in Jesus.

Yesterday, our reflection reminded us that in our anxieties and uncertainties, it is only Christ who gives a peace the world cannot give. Today, I say to you: it is only in Jesus that we can truly bear fruit.

Perhaps you have wandered away and discovered that other paths are empty and unfulfilling. Now is the time to return and remain in Jesus. Do not tire yourselves by running from pillar to post. Do not become an “anywhere belle face” person. Stay focused—remain in Jesus. When the storms of life arise, remain in Jesus. When the winds of anxiety blow, remain in Jesus.

Dear friends, silver and gold I have none, but what I have is this: I have tasted life in Jesus, and I strongly encourage you to remain in Him.

Peace be with you as you remain in Jesus.
