People are Hungry because you refused to Share

Acts 5:34-42, Psalm 26:1,4,13-14, John 6:1-15

-By Rev. Fr. Achilleus Ile Adole CSSp.

In the gospel of today, we saw Jesus performed the miracle of feeding the five thousand men excluding women and children.

In this miracle, every focus is on Jesus, however there is a little boy there who made this great scene possible. This little boy performed a greater miracle and demonstrated that there is always love in sharing.

It will not be false to think that not only that boy brought what to eat to the place where Jesus was teaching. There must have been others who brought in some food too, but only the small boy was ready to share. Others were only interested in their own bellies.

There is a lot of hunger and suffering in our world today because we do not have people like the little boy in the gospel of today. There is an addage that whatever is enough for one person to eat, is equally enough for two to share. The little boy knew that what he had was not much, yet he was ready to share.

Many of us hide under the umbrella of not having enough as we refuse to share our bread with others. If you cannot share the little you have now, you won't still have the disposition to share even when you have plenty.

Christianity should be practical. Let us not be like those others who came with food to where Jesus was teaching but were not ready to share. Instead, let us immitate the little boy who listened to Jesus' teaching on love and decided to practice it by sharing the little food he had with others. Do not only be hearers, be doers of the word. (James 1:22) When you hear the word of God, put it into practice.

Peace be with you 🙏🏾🙌🏾
