HOMILY OF THURSDAY OF THE 7TH WEEK OF EASTER

Acts 22:30,23:6-11, John 17:20-26

THEME: HAVING THE EYES FOR DETAILS

It is good to be observant and to put our ears on the ground wherever we find ourselves. Knowing what is happening around us helps us to know how best to conduct ourselves. We mustn’t say it doesn’t concern us. When people call out and we bother not to know why, we may regret later when we realize that their distress call was because of a fire outbreak in our apartment.

Before the Sanhedrin, when Paul was aware of the divide between Sadducees and Pharisees, identified himself as a Pharisee on trial for believing in the resurrection. This caused a dispute, with the Pharisees supporting Paul and the Sadducees opposing him. The assembly became divided. The disagreement escalated, and some Pharisee scribes defended Paul. The tribune, concerned for Paul’s safety, had him removed and taken to the fortress.

His vigilance saved him from the situation.

Let’s pray that we are sensitive not only to physical events around us, but also to spiritual realities, so that we can be on the safe route to sail through.

May our spiritual antenna be active so that we may not be caught up in the web of life. Amen.
