*HOMILY OF TUESDAY OF THE 32ND WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR A

ST LEO THE GREAT, Pope and doctor of the Church* .(Memorial)

” _Elected Pope in the year 440, Leo I shepherd the Church during most difficult times. He confronted and turned back Attila the Gun, witnessed the vandals’ sack of Rome and through it all cared for his people. His beautiful and profound homilies gave the Christian community courage and strength in living their Christian faith. Fittingly, he has been called Pope Leo the Great. He died in the year 461_ Daily Missal.

Titus 2.1-8.11-14, Luke 17:7-10

” _Were the whole realm of
Nature mine
That were an offering far too small;
Love so amazing, love divine.
Demands my soul, my life, my all_ .”
_Isaac Watts_

We are too small to have any claim on God. No sacrifice is too big to make for him. There is no demand he makes that can be too big. His love claims our all.

” when you have done all that is commanded you, say, We are unworthy servant; we have only done what was our duty.” Luke 17:7-10.

In God’s service, we have no ground to boast. When we rate him above all our desires, when we place all about us at his disposal, surely, he will direct our paths and grant us true sense of service.

May Saint Leo pray for us. May our lives be testimonies of God’s love. Amen.
