HOMILY OF FRIDAY OF THE FIRST WEEK OF ADVENT YEAR A. 5TH DECEMBER 2025.
BY REV FR. ADOLE ACHILLEUS ILE LAMPEZ CSSp.
1st reading : Isaiah 29:17-24
Responsorial :Psalm 26:1,4,13-14
Gospel : Matthew 9:27-31

As we continue to wait for the coming of Christ into our lives, we must learn to know that God fulfills all his promises, and that our bad situations of life does not last forever. There are only temporal.

In the same spirit of waiting in hope for the coming of our Lord Jesus, the prophet Isaiah gave us the words of God as we heard from the first reading, thus, “In a short time, a very short time, shall not Lebanon become fertile land and fertile land turn into forest? The deaf, that day, will hear… (and) the eyes of the blind will see….”

The gospel text solidifies the assertion that God fulfills his promises. In this gospel, Jesus heals the blind men and they could see again.

We may not be suffering from physical blindness, but have other challenges in life that requires the intervention of Jesus. In these challenges, we are called to trust in the promises of God that he will give us help when we call on him.

Like the blind men in this gospel today, let us learn not to be silent about our challenges. Let us call unto Jesus in whom alone true solution can be found to all out challenges.

May God sustain us in our trust and hope in him, and may we never be disappointed in our expectations.

Peace be upon you
