God fulfills His Promises

HOMILY OF FRIDAY OF THE THIRD WEEK OF ADVENT YEAR C. 20TH OF DECEMBER 2024
1st reading : Isaiah 7:10-14
Psalm 23:1-6
Gospel : Luke 1:26-38

In the first reading, Isaiah prophesied, thus, “The Lord himself, therefore, will give you a sign. It is this: the maiden is with child and will soon give birth to a son whom she will call Immanuel,
a name which means God-is-with-us.”

This same prophecy was renewed about 700 years later by the visit of the angel Gabriel to Mary as we see in the gospel today.

The prophecy eventually came to pass with the birth of Jesus, and as such, what the Lord promised was fulfilled over 700 years later.

This whole event has a great lesson for us Christians of today.
That is, working with God demands patience and endurance. Lack of these has led many astray away from God and into many paths that do not glorify the name of the Lord.

God has made a lot of promises to us in different ways, and He will not fail us.

So we pray for the grace to be patient as we await the fulfilment of God’s promises in our lives.

Peace be with you 🙏🏾🙌🏾
