*THEME: GOD FIRST*

Some people can be generous only when they are in surplus. Some find it difficult to lend helping hands when things are not going well with them. Some use their struggles or problems as excuses from being responsible.

However, in the case of Simon and his brothers, generosity was given a free flow when they expressly gave Jesus their boat to be used for evangelism, despite their agony of working day and night without a single catch.

Interestingly, at the word of Jesus, they cast their net and caught numerous fishes which beat their imagination. Even after the great catch, they left everything and followed him. God’s instruction was the first in their minds

Both in their lack and abundance, following the words of Jesus took the first place in their minds. Their obedience connected them to their ultimate life goal.

We must not serve God only when things are rosy. Our success is assured the moment we learn to obey the words of the Lord.

May we hear God whenever he calls us. May we wholly follow his ways that we may achieve his merciful designs for us through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
