The Isrealites have been thorn in the flesh since their deliverance from the hands of Egypt and Pharoah by God through Moses. Many of them felt that is better for them to remain in Egypt than to go to the promised land. They complained before the demarcation of the sea, complained about food and meat, and even complained about water. All these showed that they never trusted God for once.

In today’s first reading, everything peaked because they lost patience and faith in God and made themselves another god (the golden calf) through Aaron. Despite all the wonders of God since their coming out from Egypt, they still lost faith in God and abandoned him. This made Moses break the tablets containing the commandments and with God promising to punish them.

The actions of the Isrealites are still very much in play in the lives of Christians today. Many people of God have turned their face from God. Because of some difficulties or some personal plan or interest that was not fulfilled, they do forget all the good things God has done for them and decide to lose faith in God. One of the causes of all these leaving the church, turning away from God and all sort of them, is because people have no patience. People want God to work or make things happen according their pace and ways and not God’s. I will continue to emphasize that God’s ways are not our ways. Unlike the Isrealites, let us try to build our faith and trust in God and have patience also even when it seems things are not working out the way we want it to.

Little beginnings can result in large or massive results. Sometimes, the size does not really matter it is actually the end product that matters. In the Gospel of today, Christ used the mustard seed, which is the smallest seed on earth, to teach the people that size many times do not matter but results. Though small, when it grows, it becomes so large that it covers many places (the mustard seed). Also, the unleavened yeast is mixed with three measures of flour until it is fully leavened.

In the world of today, many people are interested in the end product. How successful is it? How massive it is?. That is what counts. So do not look down on your little beginnings provided at the end it leads you to a massive growth or result.

PEACE BE WITH YOU ALL
