Faith is an action of a deeper conviction without too many words. The attitude of the leper in todayâs gospel tells us the level of faith that he has in Jesus. His words are strategic and straight forward.
âThe leper came to Jesus and pleaded on his knees: âIf you want toâ he said âyou can cure me.â Feeling sorry for him, Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him. âOf course I want to!â he said. âBe cured!â And the leprosy left him at once and he was cured. Jesus immediately sent him away and sternly ordered him, âMind you say nothing to anyone, but go and show yourself to the priest, and make the offering for your healing prescribed by Moses as evidence of your recoveryâ (Mark 1:40-45).
Oh! What a faith that was just portrayed. âIf you want to you can cure me?â He put it before Jesus, that He had no choice than to listen to his request. He had the believe that, Jesus has the power to cure him. He did not see any limitation in getting what he wanted, because he knows about the power of believing without doubting. Many of us are full of doubts. Even before we approach God in prayer, we have already given up.
When we pray and ask God for a thing, we ought to believe that, in one way or another, God could respond to our needs, no matter how long it will take. The leper in humility and courage knelt before Jesus and asked Him to offer the miracle of healing to him. After he was cured, he did not stop but kept on praising God and telling everyone about Godâs wonders.
Let us begin to learn to approach God today with faith and humility in prayer. God can do something new for us today. May Jesus never stop to listen to our request. May He grant our hearts desires today. Amen
