HOMILY OF THURSDAY IN THE 13TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR A

Genesis 22:1-19, Matthew 9:1-8

THEME: FAITH IN ACTION

True act of faith is demonstrated in the actions we perform with full trust in God. Faith does not stop at our profession or recitation of creed. Our level of faith will be measured by how we live our life, the level of our dependence on God.

Abraham, when he was asked by God to sacrifice his only son Isaac, did not hesitate to do so. He knew that God would provide. And God did provide.

More so, Jesus healed the paralytic in the gospel today, having seen the faith of those who brought him.

In our responses to God’s will, it may seem like we are taking some risks that are unintelligible to the people, total dependence on God is a special gift. When we do what is humanly possible, we should rely on God’s provision and embrace the lots that fall to us. this produces great peace.

May our faith in God remains steadfast through thick and thin. Amen
