HOMILY OF THURSDAY IN THE 15TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR A

Exodus 3:13-20, Matthew 11:28-30

THEME: EASY YOKE

In today’s gospel, Jesus enlightens and motivates us by telling us how we can approach our everyday trials and tribulations.

“Come to me, all you who labour and are overburdened, and I will give you rest. Shoulder my yoke and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Yes, my yoke is easy and my burden light.”

While we embrace the gospel of prosperity, we must not jettison the theology of the cross. Drawing strength from Jesus, we can face the hurdles in our lives. He has traced the path of suffering and has conquered.

May the grace of God ignite our capacity to cope with our life situations. May he grant us enough joy to balance our afflictions. Amen.
