HOMILY OF SATURDAY OF THE 11TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR C

2chronicles 24:17-25, Matthew 6:24-34

THEME: DANGER OF FORGETFULNESS

If the beloved of God neglect his ways, they are bound to suffer calamities.

We easily forget God when things become rosy for us.

Those who choose other gods will have their sorrows multiplied.

King Joash forgot easily the roles Jehoiada, the priest played in his life and he killed Zachariah his son. He forgot his history and jettisoned the memory of how God preserved him for the throne. He left the Lord’s way and took to the worship of idols. Unfortunately, he was conquered by a handful of Syrian army.

One with God is majority.

May God guide our ways and direct our paths. May we never stray from his ways lest like a vagus enter the wrong shore. There is danger outside his courtyard.
