CONSEQUENCE OF EVIL INFLUENCE, Fr Oluwafemi Victor Orilua,CSSp

149

HOMILY OF TUESDAY, 14TH OF JUNE, 2022

2Kings 2:1.6-14, Matthew 6:1-6.16-18

THEME:  CONSEQUENCE OF EVIL INFLUENCE

Ahab may not have had a murderous instinct, but the kind of wife he married has brought evil upon his family. He couldn’t manage his grief at Naboth refusal and he allowed his wife, Jezebel, to perform a proxy murder for him against the innocent. Jezebel killed Naboth for refusing to cede his vineyard to Ahab.

However, the consequence was to be awful, but for his own kind of heart, which trembles at God’s judgment, he received pardon, but the evil which he deserved will be visited on his generations to come, on those who will toe the evil line which he has activated.

Today, many good hearts have been contaminated as a result of one affiliation or the other. It may somewhat become a lifetime entanglement if the influence comes from a life partner. Ahab is trapped. And it will take divine intervention to acquit his family line.

May the Lord separate us from every evil influence and cut us off from every line of contamination. Amen.
