HOMILY OF FRIDAY OF THE THIRTY FOURTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR C.
28TH NOVEMBER 2025.
BY REV FR. ADOLE ACHILLEUS ILE LAMPEZ CSSp.
1st reading : Daniel 7:2-14
Responsorial :Daniel 3:75-81
Gospel : Luke 21:29-33
To understand the words of Jesus in the gospel of today, we shall cite the verse 28 of the same gospel of luke chapter 21. It says”…And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh…”
The verses before this one speaks about the terrors, tribulations and the challenges of different types in our world, and in the midst of all these, Jesus offers His words of hope, and a promise of our redemption from all challenges which is to come soon.
To solidify this promise, Jesus said the parable that we have today in the gospel to his disciples employing the image of a fig tree and other trees which brings out their leaves as a sign of hope for the summer. He ended this parable by the assurance that “…this generation will not pass away till all has taken place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.”
In this way, we have recieved a new hope even in our current situations, that God’s intervention is close at hand. What we need is to remain faithful and be persistent in prayer.
May God grant us the grace of perseverance in our situations of life as we await patiently for the coming of the help promised us through His son.
Peace be upon you
