Genesis 49:29-33,50:15-26, Matthew 10:24-33

THEME: WHO TO FEAR

When we conquer our fear, we become more authentic. Our pretense oftentimes comes because of our inability to face the realities of our lives. Many a time, we are paralyzed by the anxiety surrounding our social and financial stability. Hence, we find it difficult to stand for the truth of the gospel before those who we know are responsible for our upkeep. Losing the grip of our spiritual baton, we simply speak what people want to hear.

However, the Lord tells us in today’s gospel, “Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; fear him rather who can destroy both body and soul in hell.” He further said, “So if anyone declares himself for me in the presence of men, I will declare myself for him in the presence of my Father in heaven. But the one who disowns me in the presence of men, I will disown in the presence of my Father in heaven.”

Let us be confident in God providence and be bold to stand for his word in all circumstances.

May his grace be enough for us. Amen.
