HOMILY OF FRIDAY AFTER THE EPIPHANY OF THE LORD. 9TH JANUARY 2026.
-BY FR. ACHILLEUS ILE ADOLE CSSp.
1st reading: 1 John 5:5- 13
Responsorial: Psalm 147: 12-13.14-15.19-20
Gospel: Luke 5:12-16
Few days ago in the gospel, Jesus walked on the sea and spoke to it and the see obeyed Him. Today in the gospel, we have a semilar situation. Jesus spoke to a sickness and even the sickness obeyed. Everything literarily obeys at the voice of Jesus. Indeed, He is a mighty God.
The man with leprosy said to Jesus, “… Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.” And he stretched out his hand, and touched him, saying, “I will; be clean.” And immediately the leprosy left him…”
The words of the man with leprosy shows that he recognised who Jesus is and the power of what he can do. Also, his words shows someone an absolute trust in Jesus without any doubts.
If Jesus wills, He can do for us anything good we ask from him, but we must learn to recognise His authority and ask with total trust and reliance.
I pray that God would say yes to all your good heart intentions this year through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Peace be with you.
