Dear people of God, as we begin this new month of December today; which is the last month of the year. Let us all be aware that the Church also has entered her new year in preparation for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (Christmas). As the Church’s New Year, we are being encouraged to persevere in good works and refocus our lives as Christians adequately.
Prophet Isaiah tries to give a pictorial view of how things will be when Christ comes in his full glory. Relating the coming of Christ and the eternal happiness which we desire, Isaiah also uses “Zion” to describe a beautiful place or city it is as the book of Hebrews did too. The glory and happiness this communion with Christ gives should be an encouragement for us to live a just life and hope and wait on the Lord. We are well assured that in his glory, all the evil things will be washed away, and the filthy made clean. This season gives us that chance. Let us embrace it. And we should take a hint in what the psalmist said: “That there is so much rejoicing …going and when we go into the Lord’s house.”
The Gospel of today portrays a clear demonstration of faith. The centurion so much trusted Christ that he feels that even without Christ’s presence in his house, he can make his servant well again. This type of trust is what we should develop strongly as we usher on the season of advent. As the centurion did, let us focus our faith in Christ despite the difficult moments or situations he always deliver.
This season has now given us another chance to re think and refocus our Christian lives and living as we prepare for the great deal that we are hoping for.
HAPPY NEW MONTH EVERYONE.
PEACE BE WITH YOU ALL
