Liturgical Color: Green Year: C(I).
Readings at Mass
First reading
Ezra 1: 1-6Responsorial Psalm: Psalm: 125: 1-6

The first reading from the book of Ezra saw a fulfillment of the prophet Jeremiah’s prophecy concerning building a temple for God . The stressing point in this first reading is God rising the spirit of Cyrus king of persia to issue a proclamation about building a temple for God and how everyone around with the same Spirit cooperated; contributing what they have both physically and materially.

Even in this present time, one attribute of God is raising up a people to do the good work. We have heard and seen many places where people have single handedly builted the house of God and at many points where people contributed to building the house of God. That’s God rising up the spirit of people so as to continue his good deeds on earth. When God touches you to do a thing or more for him, please be ready to offer your services in whatever way it is for God

In the Gospel of today, Jesus reminded us of the special duty we have as Christians and as people who preach the good news. We are the light, and we have to continue shining and not remain hidden. The work we have been given is not an easy one and as we do it well, more will be given to us, because the reward for a work well done is more work. But if we refuse to carry out the little duty given to us, even the small duty will be taken away from us.

As people of God, as we have agreed to do the work of God, let us do it with so much pride and head held high. Despite the tribulations and obstacles, God will always be with us, and his reward is always worth it.

PEACE BE WITH YOU ALL
