Friends, in today’s gospel, Jesus speaks of the difficulty of the rich man entering into the kingdom of God. He said it shall be easier for a Carmel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter into the kingdom of God. Does it mean Jesus hates the rich person? No! He speaks the truth of unnecessary attachments that distract one from focusing on God. No one can serve two masters at a time.

To authenticate this, Jesus answers the question of Peter who said “who then shall be saved? we have left everything and follow you.” Jesus says, “Truly, I say to you, in the new world, when the Son of man shall sit on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And every one who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands, for my name’s sake, will receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life. “

Jesus is against worldly attachment. Those who strip themselves of worldly attachment make themselves instruments of the kingdom. To this, salvation is not impossible. It is possible with God and God alone. Let us set our priorities right. Let us fix our gaze on God and his kingdom.

The Lord be with you.
