Today’s theme resonates with the response of Peter and John in the first reading, offering valuable lessons. The maxim “No one gives what they don’t have” reminds us that our gifts to others reflect what we possess within ourselves. Peter and John, unable to offer material wealth, gave the beggar something far greater – Jesus. As they shared what they had, the beggar received new life, healing, joy, and peace.
In the Gospel, the disciples didn’t recognize Jesus until he broke the bread. This moment of revelation opened their eyes to the scriptures and ignited a burning heart within them. They came to believe in the resurrection of Jesus.
Dear friends, I ask you: What do you possess? Is it wealth, material possessions, or pride? Whatever your situation, let Jesus be your treasure. In abundance or scarcity, in strength or weakness, Jesus is the gift that transforms. Without Him, we cannot share the power of resurrection with others. With Him, we experience His presence and the fullness of His resurrection power.
Through Jesus’ resurrection, may we be filled with His presence and experience the transformative power of His love. Amen.
