A Life of Grace

By: Rev Fr Felix O. Yayi CSSP

Homily of Wednesday 29th Week in the Ordinary Time Year B
Ref:Luke 12:39-48; Eph 3:2-12

In today’s first reading, Paul tells the church in Rome, ‘you are living by grace and not by law’. To live by law is to live by something that is external to us. To live by grace is to live by the power of God residing within us.

We are called to offer ourselves to God, we are called to open ourselves to God’s power at work deep within us. Paul reminds us that the Spirit of God dwells in us, the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead and that God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us. With this we are sure that our call to Christianity is a “graced call”, Living by inner grace rather than external Law.

Dear friends, the power of God residing in us helps us to be aware of our responsibilities as Christians, doing what is required so that the master can find us as faithful and wise servants giving others their allowance at the proper time.

May the Lord find us worthy when he comes. Amen.

Peace.
