GIVING SOMETHING OF OURSELVES

HOMILY OF MONDAY OF THE 34TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR A

Rev 14: 1-3, 4b-5, Luke 21:1-4

It is not how much we give that matters, but the spirit in which we give it.

How much we give can be rightly measured by the spirit in which we give it.

In our today’s gospel, Jesus praised the poor widow who put in two copper coins into the treasury, because she put in all the living she had. Those rich who gave out of their abundance were reckoned as giving less.

There is nothing like painless giving. Any offering that costs us nothing is a mere donation. True giving is sacrificial.

More so, anytime we develop the right attitude to giving, we sow seed of abundance.

The gift of ourselves to God is the ultimate. Anytime we leave our comfort zone to give, we offer ourselves.

May our lives be perfect gifts acceptable to God. Amen.
